Best Website Builder Other Than WordPress

In: Web Design & Development

Websites have become pretty easy to create these days, without any hassle. You do not need to have any background in coding or designing these days, to build your website. Website Builders do that for you. They have various plugins, templates, etc which require you to put minimal effort to see your website go live.

We, at The Talespinners also created our website, with the help of one of such builders called WordPress. It has turned out great for us but might not generate the same results for everyone as different people have different requirements.

You can select a simple website builder or take it a notch higher according to the complexity of your site. Here, we have tried to list down some of good website builders with their pros and cons. You can choose one, whichever is the best website builder that matches your needs.

1. WIX

Wix is an easy to create builder which is great for beginners. No prior knowledge of design or coding is required. You can simply choose your plan and build your website from scratch. Its extensive range of templates and customisations ensures that you can build a professional, sharp-looking website. Wix is very versatile since it can perform a lot of activities but unfortunately it does nothing extraordinary or out of the box. If you are looking to set up a good enough website at a nominal cost, you should check this website builder; it is one of the best builders for small businesses or freelancers looking to showcase their portfolio to build their personal brand.

Pros.

  • So many features:
Wix has an extensive range of features that allows its users to set up their website without much difficulty. Think of any attribute you might want to add to your platform and Wix will most likely have a solution for your problem.
  • So many templates:
When you start setting up your website, you will have the option to choose from a wide range of templates. The right template ensures a positive experience for the user, making sure they keep coming back to your site. Hence, templates have been developed keeping the user’s experience in mind.

Cons.

  • Once you get into Wix, you are stuck with it:
Since Wix doesn’t allow its audience to migrate to another platform, small businesses which are looking to scale up might get stuck. This is also true for an individual who wants to grow his/her brand. In such a scenario, you will have to start from scratch with another suitable website builder.
  • Has no quality which separates it from the rest:
Fact is that although Wix can take care of most of your problems, it has no extraordinary features which might make it stand out from the rest.

2. WEEBLY

Weebly is one of the websites which is perhaps the easiest to use because of its built-in features. It is a drag and drop website, where you have to simply drag the plugins and features you need for your website. It is best for those who are looking to build websites that do not require a lot of features. It doesn’t bother the user with any sort of complicated interface.

If you are someone looking to set up a basic website that doesn’t involve a lot of user interaction, Weebly is the best platform.

Pros.

  • Ease of use:
Weebly is the best website builder when it comes to setting up a website because of its easy-to-use features. To make the onboarding easier, they have email and pop-up explanations as well.
  • Great Customer Support and Experience:
Weebly has a live chat option via which customers can have their issues resolved quickly. In case they are unavailable on their website, you can mail them. They are generally very active and respond within a day.

Cons.

  • Limited Templates:
The user doesn’t have the option of choosing from a wide range of templates. The options are limited and might not be everyone’s cup of tea.
  • Unsuitable for large businesses:
Weebly is a site which can be used for everyday activities like blogging, selling a bunch of items, etc. In case you desire to scale up your business, we suggest you find a better match.

3. SHOPIFY

Shopify is the one-stop destination for building any e-commerce platform. It is the most frequently used builder because of the variety of services it offers. You can set up your site, manage it as well as make, buy and sell products. Think of any service or plugin you want to reap the benefits of, Shopify would have an option to append to your site.

Pros.

  • Dedicated e-commerce platform:
Shopify has all the features to maximize your sales. Since it is dedicated to building an e-commerce platform, all the features are inbuilt to derive the best results.
  • Security:
E-commerce platforms involve a lot io online transactions. In such a scenario, the customer’s and site’s data must be protected at all costs. Shopify has taken every possible cybersecurity measure to keep this information intact.

Cons.

  • Focuses only on e-commerce:
Shopify only focuses on e-commerce. Hence it lacks few features which websites as Wix might have by Content Management.
  • Transaction:
One of the ways, Shopify earns money is by charging 2.4%-2.5% of the sales. This is in addition to the monthly charges which users have to pay for their premium subscription.

4. WEB.COM

Advertisers and campaign organizers, this builder is just the right place for you. Web.com is similar to Wix in a lot of ways but between the two it stands out, for it can create landing pages within a manner of minutes. You just need to choose the template, make the required changes as per your need, and voila, you have created a beautiful single-page site.

Pros.

  • Free domain:
If you purchase any of the site’s premium plans, it gives you a year-long free domain name as per the availability.
  • Multiple email accounts:
This feature allows web.com to provide the user with five email accounts to match their domain. Thus, you can create more than one landing page or site. This comes in very handy for people organizing campaigns for they can collect data in separate mailboxes. This reduces the chances of data being lost due to information overload in the email.

Cons.

  • Limited customizations:
This means that you cannot build your website from scratch. The templates have already been designed and a few features in the template cannot be mingled with. If you want your website to look in a certain way, Web.com might not be the right place for you.
  • Limited E-commerce features:
Web.com is essentially a website suited best for landing pages and single-page sites. Hence, it comes in handy for small businesses. But in case you are looking to scale up your business or build a site with bigger goals, you will be disappointed. It doesn’t offer key features for the same.
